In my reading sessions with students, I plan to continue incorporating play into our group activities. We will persist with the roll-and-read games and offer a wider selection of books for the students to choose from. Additionally, we have decided to focus more on character studies, particularly on the character Meli. We will immerse ourselves in the Meli series, inspired by the group's curiosity about this character. When I asked the students if they would like to read all the books in the Meli series, they eagerly agreed to start with "Taking Care of Meli." The children have developed a strong affection for this character.
I can’t wait to embark on an exciting deep dive into the Meli series! It’s going to be a fantastic journey!
Hi Collette - I have also been having my students read all of the Meli books together, rather than following the sequence of the series. My kids are really enjoying getting to know the characters and they love having the choice of being able to pick their books. - Jessica Grandefeld
I agree. Reading the Meli series as a whole is so much more meaningful and when you do this there is more opportunity for meaningful comprehension work! - Maureen Windwer
