Math

Learning Objective:

To use some language of size in context; small / little / big / large

To see similarities in sizes and to use language of size to describe objects

You will need:

  • A selection of real objects with a big and little version, ie big and small teddy / doll / car

Learning activity:

  • Look at the different sized teddies with your child. Compare the teddies using the language of size - use body language to give visual support. “This teddy is big, this teddy is small”

Other ideas:

  • Introduce a selection of different sized objects. Look at small / medium / large

  • Extend language of size to include comparisons i.,e, smaller/smaller than/bigger/bigger than

  • A tool for measuring: ruler /strip of paper / piece of string / ribbon - measure you family members. who is big / small / bigger than / smaller than /biggest / smallest

  • Gather some family shoes together and compare size

I hope you had a great day of learning! Enjoy the rest of your day and I will see you all tomorrow.
