You will need:

  • Read Write Inc Set 1 sound cards (refer to the RWI Resource page on the menu bar for printable resources if needed)

  • Letter Sound writing sheets (refer to the RWI Resource page on the menu bar for printable resources if needed)

  • Other sensory resources to practice writing the letters such as shaving foam, sand in a baking tray, flour in a baking tray

Fine Motor Skills

Learning Objective:

To work to strengthen and develop pincer grip and hand to eye coordination.

You will need:

pom poms / cotton balls / rocks

egg boxes / small containers

tongs / scoops / tweezers / pegs

Learning activity:

  • Ask your child to use tongs / pegs / tweezers / scoops / cooking tongs etc to pick up pom poms / cotton balls / rocks / cones etc and place them in egg boxes / ice trays (or other small containers). This activity supports developing your child's eye to hand coordination, dexterity and concentration

Other ideas:

  • Make frozen eggs using balloons filled with (coloured) water and whatever you can find in your house such as small world characters / pom poms / pebbles. Tie the balloon and leave it in the freezer overnight. Explore the egg the next morning - what has happened? Why / how did it happen?
