morning register

Do the morning register - look at what day it is and see if you can find your name and practise writing it.

You can either ask mum or dad to print a copy for you to write on, or you can make your own register to use at home.

What skills have you been practising lately?

literacy

Making a book

Learning Objective: To use your imagination and literacy skills to create a short story

Children have so many stories to tell, and only need help writing it all down.

You will need

  • Paper

  • Stapler

  • Mark making tools

Learning activity:

  • Fold paper in half and staple at the crease to make pages

  • Support your child to choose the subject of the story

  • Start off the story with a short sentence. take turns with your child building the story together.

  • Write down the sentences on the pages as you make them up together.

  • When the story is complete, go back and read it to the child.

  • support your child to illustrate / decorate each page.

some extra fun ;-)

Play dough soap

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water

  • 1-2 cups Johnson’s and Johnson's No More Tear Moisture Wash (or any other soap)

  • Non-stick oil spray

  • 4-6 cups of flour

  • Gel Food Dye (or paint)

Instructions

  • Pour water into a large bowl and bring to a boil in the microwave.

  • Remove from microwave and add in Johnson’s & Johnson's No More Tear Moisture Wash.

  • Portion out into separate bowls and add colours. If you are only adding in one colour you do not need to create separate bowls.

  • Add in one cup of flour into each bowl of 1 cup of water/soap and stir. Slowly add in up to one cup more.

  • At about two cups of flour per one cup of water/soap mixture your play dough will still be sticky but this is okay. Remove it from the bowl and place it on a flat surface where you will have room to knead. Coat your play dough in non-stick oil spray, kneading it in and adding more, until it no longer sticks to your hands.

  • Play!
