Learning Objective:

To observe how substances change when mixing together

You will need:

Plastic cup

Vinegar

Baking soda

Dish washing liquid

Food colouring / paint

Learning activity:

You might want to do this activity in a tray inside our outside in sand / ground / gravel.

https://preschoolinspirations.com/easy-baking-soda-and-vinegar-volcano-eruption-for-kids/ (step-by-step instruction)

Start off by combining the “base ingredients.” Put the water inside of the plastic cup. Fill it about 2/3 full. Add the baking soda, dish soap, and washable paint / food colouring. Make a volcano out of sand / gravel / dirt around the plastic cup. Give it a good stir just before adding the last ingredient. Now it’s time for the eruption! Pour in the vinegar until it starts foaming over, pouring it’s lava all over the volcano.

Other ideas:

  • Make your volcano out of salt dough / play dough - paint and decorate it as you wish

Have a great day giraffes, have fun with your volcanos :-)
