Wednesday
good morning giraffes!
Have an awesome day :-)
Being thankful
Gerald Giraffe is thankful he can count to ten and back again. …
What are you thankful for?
morning register
Do the morning register - look at what day it is and and practise writing your name.
Do you remember the writing phrase for today's sound? Can you practise writing it whilst saying the writing phrase?
Today's writing phrase is; Round his bottom, up his tall neck, down to his feet
You can either ask mum or dad to print a copy for you to write on, or you can make your own register to use at home.
morning fun
"Spot the difference" and a song to brighten your day :-)
Story of the week
Today we are going to look at a YouTube video of the story The Enormous Turnip.
In a story, there are many different characters. When Ms Tone acted out the story yesterday the characters were the Man, the Wife, the Boy, the Girl, the Dog, the Cat and the Mouse.
Are the characters in the Youtube video the same or are they different?

p-a-t pat
g-o-t got

Blending with Speed Sound Cards
Say the word clearly so that your child can hear it i.e., mat
Build the word. Say “I need…..” - ask your child to tell you the sound that you need and place the card down so that they can see it. Repeat with all the sounds in the word
Point to the sound and say the sounds (m-a-t) then sweep your finger under the word and say the word (mat)
Read the Green word cards (you can write them on paper or a whiteboard or use the teaching video as a reference)
Read the words with the children. Show them the dots and dashes and ask them if they can see any special friends
Ask the children to say the sounds in Fred talk
Say the word out loud running your finger under the word
Review the words with your child and support them to read the words without the dots and dashes
do you remember?
Do you remember these friends?
Can you sound the first sound of their name? Can you write it?
literacy
Learning Objective:
To be able to work with a partner to retell a familiar story
To retell a familiar story whilst showing awareness of the listener
To be able to recall the structure of a story
Talking in pairs:
Ask your child to think about their favourite story. It could be one that we have learned about over the last few weeks or a favourite story that they already know. Some children might even choose to make up their own story.
The aim is to be able to retell a familiar story in the correct order. Use the following prompts to support your child:
What happened at the beginning of the story?
What happened next (the middle of the story)?
How did the story end?
You can use a storybook, story props or puppets to help in the retelling of the story.
If your child finds this challenging you can support them by going first and model how to retell a short familiar story.
some extra fun ;-)
Shapes
Help your child learn their shapes by tracing common household items. Turn over a cup to make circles, and trace your cell phone for rectangles etc. Hunting is part of the fun. Your child may want to decorate their shapes, cut them out and glue them on to larger paper for fancy art projects. Support with language naming and identifying the properties of the shapes.
