Being thankful

Gerald Giraffe is thankful that he can wish you all a lovely weekend…

What are you thankful for?

morning register

Do the morning register - look at what day it is and and practise writing your name.

Do you remember the writing phrase for today's sound? Can you practise writing it whilst saying the writing phrase?

Todays writing phrase is; Down the tower, across the tower.

You can either ask mum or dad to print a copy for you to write on, or you can make your own register to use at home.

fine motor skills

Learning Objective:

  • To be able to identify defining attributes of basic shapes

  • To be able to identify the number of sides that a triangle, rectangle, square and circle have

You will need:

  • Selection of coloured pens / markers/ crayons

  • Sand, sugar or flour

  • Container with fairly short sides (like a plastic food storage container or a small box) or a tray

What to do:

  • Trace the outline of a CIRCLE on the flour / sand / sugar. Support with language naming the shape, describing the shape (round and round, no stopping). Include more 2D shapes according to your child's interests

  • With paper and pen, support your child to draw 2D shapes (use a template if needed)

  • Name and identify shapes as you work with the 2D shapes

Other Activities:

  • Use the shapes to create a simple pattern

  • Draw more shapes to create a repeat pattern

some extra fun ;-)

Weekend Drama

Put on a play using puppets, dolls or just yourselves! Use a favorite book, classic tale or make up your own story. Find props and costumes and play dress-up with your child, or put on longer plays with the family... Just act it out and have fun :-)

If your child has a flair for the dramatic, they’ll take charge of this one and it can easily last an hour (“Okay, pretend I’m the queen. Now you say…”). They love it when you just play along and let them be the director.

great learning today giraffes!

Have a super duper weekend :-)
