Good morning Giraffe Class

Can you believe that we have now done four weeks learning at home. I hope you have had a super fun time and I am sure that you are ready for a bit of a holiday. If you want some fun things to do over the holiday you can look at the different games and activities in the “Other Activities” tab on the top home learning page. The PE Activities page at the top of the navigation bar will take you to a variety of fun activities for all the family. In addition if you wish you can visit the Scholastic website for a list of age appropriate activities (https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome/grades-prek-k.html ). You can also go back and look at the sounds that we have learned and revisit your favourite activities from the last four weeks.

Let’s see what fun is in store for us today…...

Fine Motor Skills - Making Gloop

Learning Objective:

To develop fine motor skills and finger strength

To observe how substances change when mixed together

You will need:

Cornflour

Cold water

A bowl / empty container / tray

Extras; food colouring, beads, small toys etc.

Learning activity:

Follow the recipe below to make lovely gloop. See how the substance changes when holding it up in the air and letting it run through your fingers :-)

  • 2 cups cornflour

  • 1 cup cold water

Pour the cornflour into a bowl / empty container / tray

Add the cold water slowly, stirring constantly and stop when the water is barely absorbed by the cornflour.

Gloop is easy to clean and wonderful fun! Gloop will brush off clothing as a dry powder.

Other ideas:

  • Use droppers / pipettes / empty bottles / straws / earbuds etc to drop different colours of food colour in it - explore how the colours change when mixed together

  • Hide small toys / beads in the gloop for your child to use their fine motor skills to find it

songs

Here are a few songs for you to practise :-)

Did you enjoy the "new" version of "The Wheels on the Bus"?
