Being thankful

Gerald Giraffe is thankful that he can access the internet to learn new things…

What are you thankful for?

morning register

Do the morning register - look at what day it is and see if you can find your name and practise writing it.

You can either ask mum or dad to print a copy for you to write on, or you can make your own register to use at home.

Math 3 May.mp4

Learning Objective:

To be able to separate a group of three or four objects in different ways, beginning to recognise that the total is still the same.

You will need:

  • sorting ring/ circle

  • objects to count

  • sorting bowls (2 /3)

Learning activity:

  • Place an assortment of objects (10) inside a circle.

  • Count the objects together to find the total.

  • Place 2 or 3 sorting bowls inside the ring and ask the children to divide the items into 2 or 3 groups.

  • Count each group of objects and talk about the number of items in the bowl.

  • Count the total number of items within the circle together to explain that the total is still the same.

  • Repeat with different number of groups to reinforce the concept.

Other ideas:

  • Increase the number of objects and bowls according to your child’s understanding and interest

some extra fun ;-)

Homemade collage with reusable materials

Simply provide a few items that can be rearranged again and again. Arrange them on a tray or place mat to make patterns, designs and objects. Since the materials are reusable, take a picture to commemorate each creation. Ideas: craft sticks, buttons, paint samples, fabric swatches, spare keys.

great learning today giraffes!

That is it for today Giraffes, I hope you have enjoyed today's learning :-)
