On March 16, 2024, MCS Phoenix, Malate Catholic School’s official Table Tennis team, competed against Sta. Clara Parish School (SCPS) in the Roman Catholic Manila Educational System Sports Meet (RCAMES) Elimination Round. The competition venue was in the Grade 11 St. Albert Room in MCS Campus.

The MCS Phoenix was divided into 3 categories; Girls Singles, Boys Singles, and Boys Doubles. Due to a lack of players in the Girls Doubles category, it was forfeited to SCPS. The singles category had 3 sets while the doubles category had 5 sets.

The match started at 9 AM following the warm-up and practice matches guided by Mr. Magat, MCS Phoenix’s coach. The umpire gave the rules, and players selected numbers to determine their first match lineup. In every match, the players each checked their opponent’s paddle followed by a 5 points warm-up match.

In the first round of singles, most of MCS Phoenix’s team won. Alcala (Boys), Carida (Girls), and Liwanag (Boys) swept up the scores leaving large point gaps against their opponents in SCPS. Unfortunately, Lavapie (Girls) didn't win against her opponent despite the close scores.

Delos Santos and Neri (Boys Doubles) breezed through with 11-2, 11-3, 11-2 match scores, winning 3 sets consecutively. This win immediately qualifies them for RCAM-Wide.

The second round of singles began with Liwanag vs. Alcala to determine the top 1 spot. Liwanag takes the win with 2 sets, scoring 11-3 on both.

Carida also took the win on the 1st set but slowed down on the 2nd set against SCPS, reaching a deuce score. Nevertheless, she immediately finishes the deuce and wins with a 12-10 match score. Lavapie loses both sets with another close match against SCPS.
