Malate Catholic School celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit last August 25, 2023. The mass was held at the Cardinal Sin Gymnasium which was attended by the students, teachers, other school personnel, and parents.

Junior High School students gathered at the school’s quadrangle at 7:50 A.M. The Senior High School and Grade School students shortly followed. At the gymnasium, Mr. Frankmar Cabeltis gave some reminders and a small background about the Mass of the Holy Spirit. Along with this, he was preparing the students for the mass that they were about to attend by reviewing them on the songs they were going to be singing and responses to the rites. He explained that the Mass of the Holy Spirit is “The first mass of every Catholic School.”

The mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Elpidio “Boy” Biliran Jr. and Rev. Fr. Solomon A. Jardinero. Fr. Boy gave the homily for the mass in which he said that “[The Holy Spirit] is mostly invisible but its effects are visible.”

According to Fr. Boy, the Holy Spirit is “Weak when we deny its summons and strong when we accept its summons.” To end his homily, he stated, “May we be filled with the love of the holy spirit as we start this school year”.

The offerings were given by ECE and Grade School students during the Presentation of Gifts. Before ending the mass, Fr. Sol gave thanks to God, the students and their parents, and lastly, the teachers and personnel of Malate Catholic School. After the mass ended, the students went back to their respective classrooms.
