Last Friday, October 13, 2023, students and teachers of Malate Catholic School attended the Votive Mass in Honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary held at Malate Church.

Rev. Fr. Elpidio “Boy” Biliran Jr. presided over the mass. During his homily, Fr. Boy enlightened the students of the reason behind why October 7th is the feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

The students offered chocolate milk for the upcoming feeding program of Malate Catholic School. Mr. Cabeltis also announced the activities for the month of the Holy Rosary “to be the opportunity to promote the devotion to the Holy Rosary, as well as to promote awareness among the youth that Rosary is indeed a powerful prayer.”

The activities announced are praying of the Holy Rosary (October 2-27), joining in the “1 Million Children of the World Praying the Rosary”, with the special intention of praying for the war-torn countries (October 18), “Rosaryo Para sa Pangarap", Marian Quiz Bee (October 20), and the Culmination of the Month of the Holy Rosary which is the Living Rosary (October 27).

With an interview with Mr. Frankmar Cabeltis, the mass was supposedly intended “to launch the celebration of the month of the Holy Rosary.”

Due to an earthquake this morning, the time of the mass was delayed. Students of all levels evacuated in the Remedios Circle. After the evacuation, the Junior High School went straight to the Malate Church while the Grade School and Senior High School went back to the campus. Junior High School students were the first to celebrate the mass at around 9:45 in the morning, followed by the Grade School and Senior High School students at 10:30 AM.

The mass was originally scheduled last Friday, October 6, 2023, but was unfortunately moved due to the suspension of classes in Manila.
