Friday, October 6, 2023,  the Our Lady of Remedies of Malate Church visited Malate Catholic School marking the beginning of this year’s Dalaw ni Maria.

Despite the suspension of classes as announced by the Manila LGU today, the visit of the image of Our Lady of Remedies still carried on. The teachers and personnel assembled at the quadrangle to welcome the image of Our Lady of Remedies which arrived at around 9:00 AM.

The short procession from the Church to the school grounds was joined by both the parishoners and devotees. The image, then, was placed inside the school chapel. This is followed with a short welcome program explaining history of the devotion to the Lady of Remedies and her importance to the lives of people of Malate. Later, in the afternoon, a rosary prayer was offered by the teachers and personnel.

In an interview with Ms. Consolacion Nadonga, she highlighted that the Dalaw ni Maria is a reassurance that there is a loving mother that guides and is with us in our spiritual life—it is a beautiful encounter between the mother and the child.

Moreover, she stated that during the pandemic, even without the students and most of the teachers and personnel, the image of the Lady of Remedies still continued its annual visit to the school.

The Dalaw ni Maria is part of the preparation of the church for the celebration of the her feast day on November.
