MCS BAGS MULTIPLE AWARDS AT THE RCAMES ACADEMIC FEST 2024

“Hindi lang sila basta Gold Standard, they are the standard this year!” The phrase used to describe the participants of Malate Catholic School as they bagged multiple awards at the RCAMES Academic Fest this January 12, 2024 at Paco Catholic School.

The most recent program was last held pre-pandemic, and RCAMES schools intended on bringing it back this 2024 as its schools began full face-to-face classes. 19 schools were included in the Academic Fest and each school had something to offer for this RCAMES Academic Fest 2024. Registration began from 7 AM to 8 AM and was followed by a Eucharistic Celebration, presided by Fr. Nolan Que, the Director of Cluster 5 and 6 along with the other cluster directors. 


In the homily, Fr. Nolan highlighted that the event was not to show who was better but to share the God-given talents each school had to offer. Everyone gave their best and competed with their all at the Academic Fest. 

The Masters of Ceremonies were Mr. Jay-Ar Ortiz and Mrs. Milani Dela Cruz-Fabellon for the program following the Eucharistic Celebration. It began with welcoming remarks by Fr. Maxwell Lowell Aranilla, the director of Clusters 1 and 7. Special mentions were given to the sponsors of the event, which were various publishing houses including Phoenix Publishing House, Abiva Publishing House, Diwa Publishing, Rex Publishing, Vibal Publishing, and TechnoKids.

The event chair, Mrs. Ma. Christina E. Nicolas gave the overview of the event, stating the competitions this RCAMES Academic Fest included:

Malate Catholic School had competitors for each category except for the Spoken Poetry, Short Film and TeachTok.

At 2 PM, the awarding and closing ceremony began in the auditorium. After warming up the audience and giving a certification of appreciation to the sponsors of the event the TeachTok and Short Film winners were announced. Soon after, Mr. Eduardo Salamera, the Santa Clara Parish School principal was called to announce the winners for the Spoken Poetry and Extemporaneous Speech. Following that, Mr. Louie Francis Uy from St. Peter the Apostle School announced the winners for the Creative Storytelling contest and Declamation winners. The standard for each award are as follows: Bronze standard, with an average score of 88-91.99; Silver standard, with an average score of 92.95.99; and Gold standard, with an average score of 96-99.99.

Continuing with the program, Ms. Jenny Lyn Chua was called to announce the winners for the Digital Arts categories. Following that, the Sabayang Pagbigkas winners were announced, and the closing remarks were given by Fr. Nolan A. Que at around 5:30 PM and each school was directed to their respective school services to return after the 8 hour event.

Malate Catholic School brought home a medal for each category, and just as the rest of the schools that participated in the event, each student gave their best for the competition and to represent the school.
