Our department strives to nurture students who are confident, independent thinkers with the ability to use art as a means of expression and problem-solving. Families who choose us can expect a program that provides rigorous instruction, fosters a passion for creativity, and equips students with skills that extend beyond the classroom, preparing them for both artistic pursuits and life’s challenges. Students graduate not only with portfolios that showcase their talent but also with the critical and creative mindset needed to thrive in any future endeavor.
Enduring Conceptual Understandings
Art as Communication: Students will recognize that art transcends aesthetics, serving as a powerful medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and societal impact.
The Role of Process: They will understand that growth and discovery often come from experimentation and revision, not just the final outcome.
Connection to Innovation: Whether designing in 3D, creating with digital tools, or exploring traditional mediums, students will see how their skills intersect with innovation and real-world applications.
Essential Competencies
Creative Problem-Solving: Students will learn to approach challenges with innovative thinking, experimenting with materials, techniques, and concepts across disciplines such as 3D design, digital media, drawing, and painting.
Technical Mastery: They will acquire foundational and advanced skills in mediums like sculpting, digital design software, traditional drawing and painting, and contemporary fabrication techniques, allowing them to confidently execute their artistic vision.
Visual Literacy: Students will understand how to analyze, interpret, and communicate ideas through visual language, developing an ability to create work that resonates conceptually and aesthetically.
