Research and Inspiration:
Carlos and I found the stool file on Shopbot tools. Then we scaled it down to make a miniature version.
Then we went back to the original file. Mr. D taught us how to use VCarve Pro to mill a piece of wood to make our stool.
I found that the machine does something called air cutting, which is tracing over where we would mill but we set it about 2 inches higher then the wood so that it wouldn't actually cut into the wood.
Today we cut out the actual stool with the big Shop Bot. I found that it had some other details that the smaller one didn't but it was basically the same.
We ended up cutting the pockets of the top of the stool all the way through when they were only supposed to be pocketed, so we now have to recut it.
I also ended up finishing my phone stand while we were trying to figure out the stool. My finished product:
We finally finished our project. We struggled a little bit with the screws though because we didn't push them into the wood hard enough so they were slightly sticking out. So we had to take out those screws and replace them with longer ones that would stay in the wood.
Today we were working on our second stool. My first thought was a pillow chair, but that didn't end up working out.
