My logo is a K with my name, Cara, written down the vertical side of the K. I selected this as my logo because I liked the design and it is simple and straight forward.
For this project I worked with Gavin as my partner. We completed it after the first class. I had trouble with the roll and making the cone but we figured out how to do it, and everything else was pretty straightforward and not challenging to construct.
This is my card stock box from the second day of class. I think that it looks okay and it is not very obvious that i glued it together, but there are some minor problems with the measurements that I could have improved upon.
This is my final laser cut image. I think overall it turned out well, but if I were to do it again, I would make certain parts of the letters thicker because they began to snap and break off.
This is my name stand. I made it on the laser cutter. It was very challenging to find the correct measurements, and it took a couple of attempts but I figured it out and this is my final project.
These are my sunglasses laser cut out of cardboard. Once i put them together they were too large so i had to adjust the size.
These are my card stock sunglasses, they were too small so I had to adjust the size and make them larger.
These are my final sunglasses. I went back to the original size because the size adjustment i made, made the sunglasses too large and i realized i liked the original size. I really like the shape of my lenses and I am very happy with how they turned out.
This is my final 3-D printed logo. I changed the thickness of the lines in the letters to assure that the ends would not break or like they did in the laser-cut version.
This is my 3D print night light. I printed it out of transparent material so that the light was able to shine through the print. I added the stars because I think that they are a fun design but they don't over complicate the design of the light.
These are the sketches of my sunglasses. My favorite two designs were the stars and the hexagons. I eventually decided on the hexagons because I liked the simplicity of the design.
These are the sketches of for my logo. My favorite ideas were the first one where my name is continued inside the C and the CK in block letters. I decided on the C with my name inside, but I am going to change it to a K with my name (Cara) continue down the edge.
These are my design ideas for clocks/ lamps. I decided to do a lamp and I think that I am going to make the lamp with the stars cut out of it. I got the idea for this design from my night light and i wanted to further it.
This is the prototype for my lamp. I have realized that I have to add tabs so that it folds up correctly and neatly. I also have to add the star cutouts but once I do I will print it out of poster board.
This is process i used to create a net design of my final project. I cut out hexagons and squares and figured out how to lay them out so that they would fold into a truncated octahedron.
This is an image of the prototype of my final project. I have to reprint it out of poster board and add the star cut outs.
