Today I worked on eliminating 50% of the wholes in the L in order to make it look better. I did this because the way I had it, it was not going to look good because the holes were to close to the edge of the wood, and this made the wood flimsy, and it would have lowered the overall quality of the project.

Today, I printed my first prototype of my L, and I glued almost all of the sides on. While I lost the picture that I took when I printed the L, it was made all out of cardboard, and everything fit perfectly. While gluing it, I used WAYYY to much glue, and I have since bettered my usage of the glue. I have learned lots of techniques about gluing, including gluing on the seams. This way, you do not need to use an excessive amount of glue.

Today I added little ledges to help hold up the interior of the letter. I made the depth 0.4 inches, and I plan to pop out the current back of the letter and dd in the letters. Then, I will proceed to glue the front of the letter to said ledges. These ledges will hold the front piece in place, and add the desired depth I am looking for to match our intended style.

Today, I glued all the ledges on the sides, and I took the back off. I will spray paint the edges black, and the letter part red next class! While taking the backoff, I had to use a knife and go back and forth until the cardboard and glue had been cut through. This strategy that I learned made the task a lot easier, and much safer. After taking the back off, and sliding the front of the letter through the frame, I learned that the cuts seem to fit extremely well! I will print a new, cardboard, back next class, and I will paint the edges of the letter black and the front red. Ultimately, I plan on having lights inside the letter to add another element to the design!

I began today on a positive note! First, I printed a cardboard back that I will eventually place onto the back of my letter! Next, with the help of Mr. Jack Anton Bukovnik III, I spray painted my letter (the sides and ledges) black! In this process, I learned that you can hold a letter up to paint by using a paper clip! Next, I grabbed some orange paint and began to spray paint the front of my letter orange. I was almost done, and was backing up, when I heard a snap. Unfortunately, it quickly came to my attention that I had just snapped my letter into 4 pieces. Eventually, with the help of Mr. D, I was ale to glue the sides together, and connect them with green tape. Hopefully this will help mend the snapped outside of my letter!
