Visit the Makercase Website, and select “basic box” (the most straightforward choice for this project)
Using inches as your unit of measurement, select the L, W, and H for your box.
**Note: IF YOU ADD L + W + H, THE MAXIMUM NUMBER YOU CAN HAVE AS A RESULT IS 20. This will ensure your design fits onto the material we will use in the Innovation Lab.
MAKE A NOTE OF YOUR MEASUREMENTS HERE:
L = _________ W = __________ H = __________
Unless you are planning to have a lid, keep the dimensions of your box “open.”
Choose “Finger” joints to give your box some tabs so it will hold itself together. The smaller your size for the joints, the more tabs you will have - this will make it harder for your box to clip together, but once it does, it will be very sturdy. We suggest a tab size of around 0.75 for this project. After clipping your box together, we can reinforce it with some glue.
Download your box plans. Choose the bottom left green button that says “download svg.”
You are now ready to open and manipulate the faces of your box.
**Please note, you cannot change the dimensions of your box in software (your tabs will no longer fit together if you change the size of any of these faces. You’ll need to come back to Makercase if you are trying to modify the size of your box).
Can you make it look like a mini-tool box?
