The wrestling season kicked off on Dec. 3 with a DDHS hosted jamboree between Centennial, Clackamas, David Douglas, Aloha, Mountain View, Nelson, and Grant.

“The expectation [this year] is that we win [the MHC Championship] all again,” said coach Anthony Weerheim.

After winning their first two jamboree duels against Grant and Mountain View, Douglas’s final match was against Clackamas who also won its first two matches. Clackamas didn’t have wrestlers for the 170, 138, or 132-pound weight classes, and neither team had a 195 wrestler, so the Scots earned 18 forfeit points.

Starting off was 113 pound Yeston Narruhn who, after a hard-fought match, was pinned in the last seconds, giving Clackamas 6 points, bringing it to 18-6, Scots. Next was 120 pound Timur Muzaffarov who was pinned in the 2nd round, making the score 18-12. In the 126 weight class, Eldar Muzaffarov managed a very early pin in the first round, bringing the score to 24-12. Next at 145 pounds was Mark Hull who was pinned in the second round, making Clackamas 1 pin from overcoming their early defi cit. In the 152 match, Ramazan Tyuranov managed a 5-4 win, making the score 27-18, Scots. At 160 pounds, Jaden Poulshock won 10-3, putting David Douglas in a 30-18 winning position. At 182 pounds, Melvin Villanueva won 12-6, and DD won with a final score of 33-18.
