Akira Sushi on 122nd Ave, is the best sushi I’ve had

As you walk into Akira Sushi on 122nd Ave., you can hear gentle Japanese music playing in the background. There is no need to wait for the waiter; you can pick your own seat, either a booth or a counter. There are six booths on the inside and the counter surrounds the dividing wall of the booths. The minute you sit down a waiter will see if you want any beverages or entrees. There are several waiters around who can always help you with anything you need. Akira Sushi's service is fast and efficient.

On top of the dividing wall there is a conveyor belt with sushi that can be accessed by every customer sitting down. All of the sushi is labeled with signs and if the sushi you want is not on the conveyor belt, then you would have to order it. The Japanese entrees on the menu, if desired, have to be ordered as well.

At Akira Sushi the color of the plates the sushi is on will determine its cost. The menu has the price of all the food that they provide with a guide to the colored plates. Green is $1.20; yellow is $1.65; orange is $2.05; blue is $2.55; and red is $3.20.

The best sushi is the Boston Roll, White Tiger Roll, and Seattle Roll. Those rolls have the most flavor, spice, and are extremely filling. Akira Sushi’s best entree is their Yakisoba. The only one to stray away from is the Seattle roll, it has little flavor and is chewy. Calamari is chewy and soggy, so try at your own risk.

Some of their appetizers are Spring Roll, Gyoza, Chicken Katsu, Salmon Collar, and Shrimp or Chicken Tempura. They also have soup and salad, such as Miso Soup or Seaweed Salad. Akira Sushi has an array of Japanese entrees, such as Teriyaki Chicken, Udon Noodles, Chicken Katsu Don, and Unagi Don. Some of their classic rolls are California Roll, New York Roll, Philly Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Dancing Beach. They also have desserts, such as Ice Cream, Ice Cream Tempura, and Japanese Mango Cheese Cake. Their beverages consist of water, juice, Ramune (Japanese Soda), soft drinks and tea.

The best time to go there would be around 12 p.m. because the fresh sushi is placed on the conveyor belt and there will be less diners compared to dinner time. All the food is covered so there is no contamination.
