Although low self esteem and bullying can cause concerns about kids under 18 owning phones, they can provide security, safety, and convenience for everyday things.

Teens can use a phone to contact others to let them know where they are, which provides less hassle and less worry. This can be useful in many scenarios, such as emergencies and spontaneous events. Another reason why having a phone if your under 18 is a good idea is because it will allow less stress about the little things, such as where to find a phone to contact someone, directions to get somewhere, and those reminders. All you need is one screen which makes it convenient to use. Kids have daily school and outside activities just like adults, so they need to be notified every time. Luckily, phones provide alarms, mail, GPS, note-taking applications, and other apps to keep them organized and in control of their responsibilities.
