Elizabeth Tudor, Queen of England, and Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, were first cousins once removed. They were remarked as enemies from the beginning because of Mary’s rightful claim to the English throne. Elizabeth ruled England and Mary ruled Scotland but which of the two queens was a better leader? *Most of the information we speak of are based off of the show Reign which isn’t entirely history accurate*
I believe Elizabeth was the better queen and leader.
Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry Vlll of England and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth was an illegitimate child after her mother’s death. She was locked in The Tower of London while her half-sister, Mary Tudor, ruled England. Mary Tudor named Elizabeth as her successor which had her become queen after her death.
As a consequence of her father and sister’s ruling before her, Elizabeth returned England to growth and success. In order of priority, she was cheated by not only her rivals but the people in her services which led to her paranoia but that didn’t stop her from carrying out her duty.
With the desire of overthrowing Elizabeth, The Spanish King Philip ll sent the Spanish Armada to take over England in 1588.
“I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too.” A line said by Queen Elizabeth herself to her troops at Tilbury before defeating the Spanish Armada.
The Majesty of England played a part in finding the New World. Elizabeth granted permission to two Englishmen in order to colonize America.
Queen Elizabeth was the only English queen to never marry even though she had many foreign princes, as well as English noblemen who wanted marriage. Historians believe that was because she wanted to protect England’s security. Despite the fact that she had a lover, Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester, there wasn’t any hope of their relationship because his wife, Amy Dudley’s, death was pointed towards him. She sacrificed her own happiness for her country. As a single independent woman, Elizabeth played her part as a queen and a king of England, being the most achieved leader.
