Elks National Foundation’s most valuable student scholarship

The deadline for the annual Elks National Foundation’s Most Valuable Student scholarship deadline is quickly approaching. One of the most popular scholarships up for grabs, rewards ranging from $1,000 to $12,500 per year. The deadline is Nov. 15 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

Applicants are judged based on leadership, and financial need. To be eligible for the award, students must answer an essay prompt and must be United States citizens. At minimum students must be pursuing a four-year degree at college or university in the United States, so unfortunately this scholarship is not for those looking to go abroad.

In addition, students are also required to submit a counselor report which is then filled out by their school counselor. Winners will be notified during late April of 2022.

Amongst the 500 national winners, there will also be a pool of 20 finalists who will advance to the next round which includes an all expenses paid for Leadership Weekend in Chicago. In Chicago, finalists will be interviewed in front of a panel of judges. Organizers of Elks are still uncertain whether or not the Leadership Weekend will be in-person or online due to COVID-19 regulations. Their hope is that things go smoothly and their plans will move forward.

The rewards up for grabs include two first-place awards, two first-place awards of $50,000, two second-place awards of $40,000, and two third-place awards of $30,000. The remaining 14 finalists will receive awards of $4,000.
