The Troubadours took first place at the OSAA’S (Oregon’s School Activities Association) state choir championships.

This year’s competition was held at Mount Hood Community College where David Douglas High School competed against West Lynn’s top group, "Treble Threat", and Grant High School’s "Nothing But Treble", who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively amongst many other schools from the state of Oregon. The Troubadours scored 311, 314, and 301, and were the only group in the category to not score below 300.

The Troubadours consists of 13 students, including choir president and soprano section leader August Pair, Abigail Chabel, Alexis Horn, Emma Fleming, Frances Ngueyen-LeGallo, Jana Brown, Jordyn Nutter, Kathryn Thomas, Lily Walker, Madelynn Smith, alto section leader Maitreya Mills, Pamel Dikova, and Teresa Ngyuen. This year at state the Troubadours sang Sto mi e milo, a traditional song from Macedonia arranged by Daniel Hughs. In addition, they sang Lunar Lullaby by Jacob Narverud. This was the set of songs they worked on from the beginning of the school year.

The Troubadours is an auditioned ensemble that meets everyday, zero period, from 6:45 to 7:30 a.m.

“Troubadour students work very hard daily all year to prepare for and win both the district and state championships for the large ensemble,” said choir director Christopher Silva.
