This artwork reflects how organic subject matter can be represented using traditional drawing methods. The techniques involved in the colour pencil study included burnishing and blending, which were used to achieve a silky, natural texture and depth in the petals and leaves. It is a delicate composition with very light contrast and a muted colour palette, used to reflect the subtle presence that flowers themselves provide.
