As a class we were asked to design a model that was made of recycled materials - from this I created a piece with the idea of conveying childlike energy. I found a range of used and recycled materials around my house to build my model and help emphasise my theme. The main materials that my design include are an old light globe, an old clock face, wire, rope, buttons, plastic caps/clips, and denim. These materials are all recycled or reused. I used the clock face as the head to symbolise the idea of passing time and growing up. I included the lightbulb as the body to depict ‘energy’ in more literal terms. The rope was used for the hair, I connected it to the clock face and made it look like ponytails, this displays a childish effect. For the arms I used two different types of wire and made them bendy so that it gave a sense of movement and energy. With the denim I decided to make jeans for the model to create a point of interest. This robot also includes a bow tie made from cotton, eyes made from buttons and screws, and feet made from plastic clips wrapped in wire. Through these aspects of my design I hoped to achieve a sense of childlike energy.
