My theme this year explored juvenile development – the lessons learnt through the adolescent experience. I was particularly interested in the development of the brain throughout this period. My final work is made up of a wallpaper designed from my own MRI scans edited in a vector file format. When this wallpaper is illuminated with an RGB lighting sequence, the wallpaper assumes an unsettling, almost psychedelic, life of its own with different figments appearing for different viewers. On the false screen of the TV I have appropriated Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam hand motif to convey that transition from child-like innocence to self-awareness and experience.
