This artwork is of Timothée Chalamet as the archangel Gabriel from the Biblical story of the Annunciation. It has been created using the concept of the exploration of religious symbols that have been seen throughout Renaissance artwork. The centred nimbus, similar to the halos associated with angels, saints and Jesus throughout the Middle Ages, is representative of Gabriel’s divinity. The gold typifies holiness, and this medium also reflects light, giving the artwork a further spiritual association.
