Reflection of the mind showcases the fragility of self-image in modern society. In an age of unprecedented growth in communication due to the Internet, there has, in turn, been created a new standard for beauty and new levels of self-consciousness. The imagery of water and flowers are both used as symbolic references. The water not only represents drowning in one’s own thoughts, but also as the title states, a ‘refection of the mind’. Similarly, the flowers show a physical representation of fragility, as well as each flower having a meaning for what is lacking in society: thoughtfulness (pansies), passion and pride (orange lilies) and strength of one’s own character (gladiolus).
