Rica created a background for her boat by using textured paper made during a lesson on colour mixing. The texture was made by using plastic forks and other utensils. This paper was then cut into semi circles and pasted along the bottom of white paper to give the impression of waves. On the top half of the background, larger and smaller clouds were painted to give the perception of space. Cut outs of a boat, a person and a giraffe were added to the composition.
