This artwork is an appropriation of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci and the distinctive style of Del Kathryn Barton. The artwork is a self-portrait which is reflective of myself as seen through various subject matter as well as aesthetic qualities incorporated throughout the design. The symbology throughout the background, such as the sun and various plants, is representative of my love for summer and the outdoors. The bees represent my development and growth as an artist as they have been a recurring symbol in my artworks throughout the years. The purples that are used within the figure represent the qualities of creativity, peace and independence. The translucency of the figure contrasts against the black background making it the focal point of the artwork.
