tin

Be careful when using the word "tin" to describe roofs or building material.

Although metal roofs in the U.S. and Canada have historically been referred to as tin (as in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), they are traditionally fabricated from another metal (such as iron or steel) plated with tin or a combination of tin and zinc or tin and lead or are fabricated from pure copper.

Sheet or corrugated metal used today as cheap building material in developing countries is almost certainly not tin or even tin-plated.
