EXPEDITIONS AND RESEARCH PROJECTS

Do not capitalize expedition unless part of a formal title:

            Lewis and Clark expedition

            Steger International Polar Expedition

Always give credit to any organization that participates with the National Geographic Society in the support of an expedition or research project.

Make it clear that the Society and not the magazine (except in rare cases) grants the support:

            the National Geographic Mount Katmai expedition

            with the support of the National Geographic Society, Yale University, and the Smithsonian Institution

Refer copy to the Committee for Research and Exploration.
