LGBTQ

LGBTQ is the preferred acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer and/or questioning individuals and communities, though LGBT and LGBTQ are both acceptable as umbrella terms. LGBTQ is not a synonym for “nonheterosexual,” since that incorrectly implies that transgender is a sexual orientation. See the magazine's gender glossary for related terms.
