French Dip Sliders are a delightful and savory twist on the traditional French Dip sandwich, reimagined into irresistible bite-sized treats perfect for parties, game nights, or a cozy family dinner. These mini sandwiches are made with soft buttery rolls layered with tender roast beef, melted provolone or Swiss cheese, and sweet caramelized onions. To give them an extra punch of flavor, a creamy horseradish mayo is spread onto the rolls, and a rich, flavorful au jus is served on the side for dipping. Baked until golden and gooey, these sliders strike the perfect balance of cheesy, meaty, and crispy—making them a crowd favorite that never disappoints.
For the Sliders:
1 package (12-count) King’s Hawaiian Savory Butter Rolls
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon cream-style horseradish
½ pound provolone or Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
½ pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
½ cup caramelized onions
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
½ tablespoon chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley, plus more for garnish
For the Jus:
2 cups beef broth or stock
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large garlic clove, minced
1½ tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1–2 teaspoons roasted beef base (such as a bouillon paste)
1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ¼ teaspoon dried thyme)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Prepare the Rolls:
Preheat the broiler. Slice the rolls horizontally with a serrated knife to separate the tops from the bottoms.
Place both halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and toast under the broiler for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden. Watch closely to avoid burning.
Assemble the Sliders:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish (10.5×7.5-inch or 13×9-inch).
Place the bottom halves of the toasted rolls in the dish.
In a small bowl, stir together mayonnaise and horseradish. Spread half over the bottom rolls.
Layer on half the cheese, then all of the roast beef, the caramelized onions, and the remaining cheese.
Spread the rest of the horseradish mayo on the cut sides of the top rolls and place them on top of the sliders.
Butter Topping and Bake:
In a bowl, combine the melted butter with Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and chopped parsley.
Brush this mixture over the tops and sides of the sliders.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Remove the foil and bake for another 5–8 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
Make the Jus:
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
If using flour, stir it in and cook for about 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, beef base, and thyme.
Simmer until slightly thickened, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
Strain before serving if desired for a smoother dipping sauce.
These sliders are best served warm, garnished with extra parsley and paired with a warm bowl of au jus for dipping. They're perfect for casual gatherings or as an elevated snack.
