Bob Sharp was a unique player for North in that he played 4 years of Varsity Soccer at a time when North was a powerhouse in the late 1950s. As a freshman, he played in a City schedule format which took NC to the City title game. In 1957 he played in the first official PCL soccer schedule which was started by NC Coach Rev Daniel McLernan.
Sharp and the Falcons would win 3 consecutive PCL titles in 57, 58 & 59. But the Philadelphia Bulletin City title trophy had eluded them until they won it all in 1959 with a victory over Olney High. Sharp enjoyed a fantastic senior season where he scored 18 goals. His speed was his greatest asset, and the striker took advantage of his quickness to give opposing defenses fits.
Sharp was the co-Captain of ‘59 team and was also selected as All-Catholic and All-Scholastic in both his junior and senior years. A graduate of Visitation BVM Parish, he also starred on the Lighthouse BC United team. Today Bob lives with his family in Allentown, PA
