John Weick was a three year starter at North Catholic. During this time, Weick was a two time All-Catholic & All-City selection and the Catholic League MVP in 1980. He was also a 1st team All-State selection in 1979. Weick was a key member of the Falcons’ Catholic League and City series Soccer Championship teams in 1978 and 1979. As a junior, Weick scored the winning goal in a 2-0 victory over St Joe’s Prep in the ‘79 PCL finals.
John’s brothers Tom, Bob and Jim Weick also played varsity soccer for the Falcons. Tom scored the game winning goal against Cardinal Dougherty in the 1970 PCL championship game & Jim scored 2 goals against Bonner to lead the Falcons to another PCL title in 1974. The Weick brothers were the 1st trio to accomplish such a feat. The Bradby brothers from Ryan in the mid-80s have since duplicated the accomplishment.
Besides his exploits on the Soccer pitch, John Weick was also named 1st team All-Catholic and All-City in baseball for North. In his senior year (1981) the Falcons were also the PCL Baseball Champions. In addition to that he was also named 2nd team All-Daily News as the kicker/punter for the Falcons football team in 1980.
After graduating from North in 1981 John Weick played his collegiate soccer for Head Coach and fellow NC Soccer Hall of Fame inductee John Boles at Temple University.
