Larry Sullivan was a two-time All-Catholic and All-Scholastic selection. He played on the 1964 & 1965 PCL Championship teams for North. He scored the only Falcon goal in the City Title match loss against Frankford in 1965.
Sullivan then served his country in Vietnam for three years after graduating North. He received a Purple Heart medal, two Bronze stars, and the Army accommodation of valor award.
Upon returning from military service Larry played College soccer for Temple University from 1970 to ’72. He also played professional soccer for the Philadelphia Spartans Soccer Club throughout the 1970s.
Larry Sullivan then went on to serve as head coach at Father Judge from 1981 to 1991. Sullivan was then selected as the head coach of the Villanova Soccer Program in 1992 and served in that position until 2007, before retiring. Even in retirement Mr. Sullivan volunteered as the NC freshman coach in 2008 and continued in that position until the school’s closing in 2010.
Larry has been a member of the SE Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame since 1996. He is also a member of the Father Judge Hall of Fame.
