Tom Ciolka was a star player for the Olney High soccer team as a young man and a 1st team All-Public selection. He was also a semi-pro player and led Danubia in Major Division Soccer.
Following the legendary Russ Bono Sr., Coach Tom Ciolka had big shoes to fill but he kept the North Catholic soccer winning tradition alive for the 9 years he was at the helm. His first season, 1989, started out a bit rocky as a talented North team barely missed the PCL Playoffs for the first time in 32 years. But Ciolka would bounce right back in 1990 when he led the Falcons all the way to the PCL Championship where they defeated Monsignor Bonner 3-1. He also led the team to the PCL finals in 1994 and 1997. Tom coached several NC Hall of fame players during his time at North including Dom D’Ambra, Pat Morris, John McIntyre, Joey Murtagh and Steve Wacker who all played professional soccer After his success at North Ciolka went on to become Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach at Philadelphia Textile now Philadelphia University.
For all his contributions to Soccer in Philadelphia Tom Ciolka was elected into the SE PA Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006. He is currently and assistant Boys varsity soccer coach at Penn Charter alongside NC's own Bob DiBenedetto.
