From St Anne’s Parish in Port Richmond, Kevin Salamon played on the 1974 & 1975 Falcons teams that won back to back PCL soccer crowns. The All-Catholic selection scored a game-tying goal in the 1974 city championship loss to Frankford. He scored the winning goal in the 90th minute of a 2-1 victory over St Joe’s Prep in the 1975 PCL title match. He also scored a goal in the City title 4-0 victory against Roxborough in ‘75.
Opposing coach Jim Murray of St Joe’s Prep called Salamon” the fastest NC player he had ever seen in my 35 years as a head coach.” Salamon was also voted 1st team All-Catholic after his senior season.
Kevin was also an outstanding centerfielder for the Falcons baseball team and was named 1st team All-Catholic, 1st Team All-City and MVP of the Catholic League in 1976. Kevin went on to play both soccer and baseball at Philadelphia Textile (later Phila. U). He was on the 1978 Textile soccer team that was ranked in the nation’s top 20. This team also made it to the NCAA final 4 before losing to eventual champion Indiana.
