Mike Schmanek '84

Mike Schmanek grew up in Kensington playing for Lighthouse Boys Club (St. Hugh parish). He was a key member of the Lighthouse Americans team and earned State Select Team honors for helping his squad win the U16 State Cup.

At North, Schmanek was a star defender. His contributions on the field earned him All-Catholic, All-Scholastic and Philadelphia Daily News All-City honors in 1983. After graduating from North in 1984, Mike played soccer for Spring Garden College. He then played Major Club soccer for the Ukrainian Nationals, where his team enjoyed multiple titles and Cup appearances.
