From the Kensington area of Philadelphia, John McIntyre was a two-time All-Catholic selection. He was also the leader of the 1990 North team that won the PCL Championship. McIntyre scored the final goal in a 3-1 victory over Monsignor Bonner for the title.
McIntyre went on to play College soccer at St Joseph’s University where he teamed up with fellow NC Soccer Hall of Famer Don D’Ambra. John was named to the All-Atlantic 10 1st Team three consecutive seasons, first as a midfielder in 1991 and then twice more as a forward in 1992 & 1993. In 1993 McIntyre led the Atlantic-10 conference in assists with (10). It is still a SJU record for assists in a season. He also helped the team to the A-10 Conference finals in 1993 before the Hawks fell to undefeated Rutgers. McIntyre was named to the A-10s All-Championship team. As of 2012 John McIntyre is 3rd All-time in career goals with 27, 2nd in career assists with 20 and 2nd in career points with 74. John is also #1 All-time at St Joe’s for average assists per game in a season .53 (1993) and in a career .35 (1991-93).
After St Joe’s John McIntyre went on to play 5 years of professional indoor soccer in the MISL; first with the Philadelphia Kixx from 1996 til 1999 and later with the Milwaukee Wave in 2000. John is currently on the staff of Archbishop Ryan’s Girls Soccer team. They are 2-time District 12 Champions. He also coaches at Philadelphia Soccer Club.
