1962 TEAM – “PCL & CITY CHAMPS”
(14–0-0 PCL) (19-0-0 OVERALL)
HEAD COACH: Rev. Daniel McLernan, '34
This team will always be remembered as the only undefeated and untied team in North Catholic Soccer History. They are also the only team from the 1960s to win both a PCL and City Title. The team scored an incredible 86 goals and allowed only 11. Another amazing fact is that one of their top goal scorers, Charlie Duccelli was kicked out for a disciplinary cause prior to the season (Ducelli would graduate from Germantown High and then become Temple’s all-time leading goal scorer in history). Tragically, the 1962 team also lost their team leader Ed McGinn to an accident in the summer of 1962 as well. The team rallied around this loss and dedicated their season to their fallen comrade.
