Tom Scanlon was an outstanding team leader for the 1955 & 1956 Falcons squads which won back to back City Championships. Scanlon was an All-Scholastic and All Area High School Soccer player during his senior year at North.
Scanlon went on to an outstanding College career at LaSalle University. As a sophomore in 1958, Scanlon was named an All-MAC Conference 2nd team player. He was then voted a 1st team All-MAC as a Halfback in both 1959 & 1960. In his senior campaign he was also named a 1st Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Tom was the first ever Explorer to win such an honor and one of only two players in LaSalle soccer history to be named 1st Team All-American (the other is Cesidio Colasante 1997)
Tom Scanlon has been a member of the LaSalle University Athletic Hall of Fame since 1969. He was also elected into the SE Pennsylvania Soccer Hall of Fame in 1994.
