Chinavia armigera (Stål)

Coloration. Predominatly green. Lateral margins of juga black or green, followed by a green band. The margins of pronotum black, submargins yellow. Scutellum with four irregular yellow dots on the basis. Connexivum green and urosternites yellow. Black macula only on urosternite. Head. Margins of juga with a slight concavity in front of eyes, apex of head broadened and semicircular. Proportion of antennal segments: I<II≈III<IV>V. The rostrum reaches the metacoxae. Proportion of rostral segments: I<II≈III>IV. Thorax. Anterolateral margins of pronotum without submarginal dorsal depression. Humeral angle developed into a spine, with yellow coloration. Hemelytra with costal angles slightly obtuse. Membranal suture convex. Abdomen. Medial spine of third urosternite reaches metacoxae. Spiracles black.

Distribution. Brazil (RS*), Paraguay, Argentina (PBA), Uruguay.

Aquifoliaceae (Quintanilla et al. 1981; Schwertner & Grazia 2007), Chenopodiaceae (Quintanilla et al. 1976; Schwertner & Grazia 2007), Fabaceae (Schwertner & Grazia 2007), Malvaceae (Quintanilla et al. 1981; Schwertner & Grazia 2007), Poaceae (Quintanilla et al. 1981; Schwertner & Grazia 2007).

Comments. This species is usually confused with Chinavia nigridorsata (Breddin). Chinavia armigera has the widest head, yellow band in the pronotum submargin and the spine of the humeral angle more conspicuous.
