Shri Jambu Maharshi, has conducted a great Yagam thousands of years back on the south-western side of mountains. After completion of Yagam a warrior was emerged from the Homagundam by wearing so many weapons in the hands. He is the founder of Agnikula Kshatriya caste. His name was Swayambava Manuvu.
Smt. Drowpadi Devi was also birth from Agnigundam who is the wife of Pandavas and sister of Sri Krishna Bhagawan. Hence Smt. Drowpadi Devi also became the goddess of Agnikula Kshatriya caste. Since then Agnikula Kshatriya people worshipped Smt. Drowpadi Devi as their goddess.
The temple was conducted so many years back and one of the ancient temple in the Nellore City. It was constructed in an extent of Ac. 1.00 cents. The poojas performed in this temple by Agnikula Kshatriyas as per Saaktheya Agama Sasthram. The main deities in this temple are Sila Vigrahams i.e. Smt. Drowpadi Devi, Udhisthara and Parthasarathy. On the southern side of main deities of the temple are Sri Parikshith, northern side Sri Vyasabhagawan and Doumula Vigrahams are located which are valuable and appear any where. The Vigrahams prepared by using the wood (Daaru Vigrahams) . Among these vigrahams Pancha Pandavulu, Pothuraju daaru Vigrahams are located in the premises of the temple on the southern side of Mukhadwaram Sri Chennakesawa Swamy, northern side Sri Vigneswara Swamy was installed. Daily Abhishekams and Poojas performed to these deities. On the south-western side of the temple Naagulaputta was located on the occasion of Naagula Chavithi Festival, devotees largely throng to the temple and perform poojas by offering milk and eggs to the God of snake. The devotees also offer the hair at Nagulaputta.
On the north-western side of the temple Muneeswara and Sapthakanyakala Gudi was located and it is so much powerful in that area. Previously, in the same place a large tree was located and muneeswaras living in that tree. Daily abhishekams performed in this temple. A well was located on the north-eastern side of the temple which was called as Punya Theertham. The water of this well was utilized for performing Thirumanjanam. The water of this well was so sweet. The Yagasala of the temple located on the south-eastern side of the temple. Brahmotsavams will be performed for every three years in Jyesthamaasam for a period of 21 days. The devotees largely participate during Brahmotsavams mainly on the occasion of the Agnigundam and Thapassu.
