Odisha -Before independence it was a part of Bengal presidency. Simon Commission gave a separate state to Odisha including Telugu districts Barampuram, Ganjam and Parlakimidi. Telugu people boycotted Simon Commission on Gandhji’s call and hence lost the three districts permanently.

Odisha was originally a part of the Bengal province during the colonial rule. On 22nd March 1912, a new province of Bihar and Orissa was formed.

Which states were under Bengal Presidency?

Thus, by 1877, the Bengal Presidency included only modern-day Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and Bengal. In 1905, the first partition of Bengal resulted in the short-lived province of Eastern Bengal and Assam which existed alongside the Bengal Presidency.

In 1936, the districts of Ganjam and Vizagapatam (including the Vizagapatam and the Ganjam agencies) were partitioned between Madras and the newly created province of Orissa. There were five princely states subordinate to the Madras government. They were Banganapalle, Cochin, Pudukkottai, Sandur, and Travancore.

On 1 October 1953, 11 districts in the Telugu-speaking portion of Madras State became the new Andhra State with Kurnool as the capital. Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu (also known as Andhra Kesari – "The Lion of Andhra") became the first Chief Minister of the new state.

Who defeated Krishnadevaraya?

In 1513, Krishnadevaraya personally engaged in battle with Golconda Sultan Quli Qutb Shah at Pangal, near Wanaparthy. The Vijayanagar army suffered defeat at the hands of the Golconda forces, resulting in the capture of the Pangal fort from Vijayanagar.

On 1 October 1953, 11 districts in the Telugu-speaking portion of Madras State became the new Andhra State with Kurnool as the capital.

From Orissa Province ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orissa_Province ) was a province of British India created in April 1936 by the partitioning of the Bihar and Orissa Province and adding parts of Madras Presidency and Central Provinces. Its territory corresponds with the modern-day State of Odisha.

On 22 March 1912, both Bihar and Orissa divisions were separated from the Bengal Presidency as Bihar and Orissa Province. On 1 April 1936, Bihar and Orissa Province was split to form Bihar Province and Orissa Province. Parts of the Ganjam district and the Vizagapatam district of Madras Presidency were transferred to Orissa Province along with portions of the Vizagapatam Hill Tracts Agency and Ganjam Hill Tracts Agency and Khariar region of Central Provinces and Berar.

Under the British Raj(i.e. since 1858, as compared to the earlier East India Company rule), it was a division of the Bengal Presidency with its capital in Cuttack. On 1 April 1912, the province of Bihar and Orissa was detached from Bengal, and the Orissa Tributary States were placed under the authority of the governor of Bihar and Orissa. In 1936, Orissa became a separate province with five districts,[3] comprising an area of 83,392 km².[4]

The Government of India Act provided for the election of a provincial legislative assembly and a responsible government. Elections were held in 1937, and the Indian National Congress took a majority of the seats but declined to form the government. A minority provisional government was formed under Krushna Chandra Gajapati, the Maharaja of Paralakhemundi.

Vizagapatam District ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vizagapatam_district_(Madras_Presidency)#:~:text=Vizagapatam%20District%20was%20a%20district,sub%2Ddivided%20into%2022%20taluks ) was a district in the Madras Presidency of British India. Covering an area of 44,600 square kilometres (17,222 sq mi) and sub-divided into 22 taluks.

During the British rule in India, Vizagapatam emerged as a district. It is one of the largest district in British India. On 1 April 1936, Bihar and Orissa Province was split to form Bihar Province and Orissa Province. Parts of the Vizagapatam District and the Ganjam District (excluding Ichchapuram, Palasa, Tekkali, Pathapatnam and Srikakulam) of Madras Presidency were transferred to Orissa Province along with portions of the Vizagapatam Hill Tracts Agency and Ganjam Hill Tracts Agency.

Present day it covers the areas of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Parvathipuram Manyam and part of Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh and Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Ganjam and Rayagada districts of Odisha. The Vizagapatnam city is the administrative headquarters of the district.

During the British rule in India, Visakhapatnam emerged as a district in the year 1802. Chicacole (present-day Srikakulam) which was in Visakhapatnam district was incorporated into Ganjam when the latter was formed as a district.[5] On 1 April 1936, Bihar and Orissa Province was split to form Bihar Province and Orissa Province. Parts of the Vizagapatam district (i.e., Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Jeypore, Rayagada etc.) and the Ganjam district (excluding Chicacole division) of Madras Presidency were transferred to Orissa Province along with portions of the Vizagapatam Hill Tracts Agency and Ganjam Hill Tracts Agency.[6][7][8] The Chicacole division (i.e., Ichchapuram, Palasa, Tekkali, Pathapatnam and Srikakulam) was merged with Visakhapatnam district.

Later, in 1950, Srikakulam district was carved out from the erstwhile Visakhapatnam district.[9] In 1979, part of the district was split to form Vizianagaram district.

Northern Circars This zone included the coastal areas of districts of present-day Coastal Andhra and Ganjam of Orissa.

In 2022, Vizag district was divided into three i.e., Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharama Raju districts. This made Vizag the only district with 90% urban population in AP.

The Arcot Princely state was situated in the Carnatic region of South India between about 1690 and 1855. The term 'carnatic' was given by Europeans to southern India between the Eastern Ghats and the Coromandel coast of Madras presidency

Is Carnatic and Arcot same?

The kingdom of Arcot, also known as the kingdom of Carnatic, was the monarchy that ruled over the majority of the eastern part of the present day Tamil Nadu region throughout the eighteenth century.

The Madras Presidency lasted till 1950, when it became the Madras State after India became a republic. In 1953, Telugu-speaking regions of the state split to form Andhra State.

In 1953, Telugu-speaking regions of the state split to form Andhra State.
