CHENNAI: Retired IAS officer G Santhanam will be heading the Tamil Nadu Vanniyakula Kshatriya Public Charitable Trusts and Endowments Board. The orders in this regard were issued on February 4. The term of the office of chairperson and members of the board is a period of three years from the date of issue of notification.
This follows the presidential assent given to Tamil Nadu Vanniyakula Kshatriya Public Charitable Trusts and Endowments (Protection and Maintenance) Act enacted in December last.
G Santhanam will be a chairperson while G Venkatachalam, MLA, and KA Pandiyan, MLA, would be members of the board. R Thiyagarajan, retired TNEB engineer, will be eminent person of the trust. R Brinda Devi, Special DRO, National Highways Land Acquisition, Villupuram, will be the member-secretary.
The above Act has been enacted to set up a board to maintain and administer public charitable trusts and endowments created by the Vanniyar community members across the State. It is aimed at preventing misuse, misappropriation of properties and income by people for causes other than those for which these endowments were created.
This Act will apply to all charitable trusts and endowments created and administered by persons or organisations of Vanniyakula Kshatriya community.

CHENNAI: The state government on Thursday passed a bill in the state assembly to create a board to maintain and administer public charitable trusts and endowments created by vanniyar community members across the state. It is aimed at preventing misuse, misappropriation of properties and income by people for causes other than those for which these endowments were created.
The Act — Tamil Nadu Vanniyakula Kshatriya Public Trusts and Endowments (Protection and Maintenance) Act, 2018 — will apply to all charitable trusts and endowments created and administered by persons or organizations of the vanniyakula kshatriya community which includes vanniyar, vanniya, vannia gounder, gounder or kandar, padayachi, palli, and agnikula kshatriya.

The Himachal Pradesh Early Childhood Care and Education Centers (Registration and Regulation) Bill 2017 aims to ensure quality education to children by providing all basic facilities.
The Tamil Nadu Vanniyakula Kshatriya Public Charitable Trusts and Endowments (Protection and Maintenance) Bill 2018 also aims to prevent misuse, misappropriation of properties and income by people for causes other than those for which these endowments were created, a Home Ministry official said.
The president has given assent to the two state bills, the official said.
The Tamil Nadu legislation will apply to all charitable trusts and endowments created and administered by persons or organisations of the Vanniyakula Kshatriya community.
Many members of the community donated their properties for charitable purposes through trusts and endowments and such properties, in most cases, were neither utilised, nor maintained.

To take measures for the recovery of lost properties of any trust or endowment.

meet the recurring expenditure of the Board
The Board published an advertisement in Daily Thanthi and Dinamalar on 15.08.2019 that all the concerned
Trusts and Endowments in Tamil Nadu should register with this Board under Section 30(1) of Tamil Nadu
Vanniyakukla Kshatriya Public Charitable Trusts and Endowments (Protection and Maintenance) Act 2018,
The Board, so created, has identified 83 Trusts/Endowments. The Board has so far conducted seven Board
Meetings on 04.03.2019 10.06.2019, 16.07.2019, 18.09.2019, 13.11.2019, 09.01.2020 and 11.03.2020 for
effective functioning of the Board.
