Then have students vote for the Primary category. There are forms for each at the end of the slideshow. Make a copy and you can share in Google Classroom or on your webpage.
Lesson 2: Exploration with ChatterPix
Using the iPad, explain how to do a Google Search for an image and how to save it on the camera roll. Or have them take a selfie of themselves and then go to ChatterPix.
After choosing an image, lightly touch the image until the pop up menu appears, and then click on "save to Camera Roll."
Then, model how to create a ChatterPix.
First, click on "Take Photo," tap on the box to the left of the camera button, and have them choose the image they downloaded. Then, touch "Next." They will then e instructed to draw a line across the mouth of the image. After drawing the line, they can record themselves using the record button. Then, push "Next." Allow them to customize the image, and then push "Next." They can watch their ChatterPix project. After they are satisfied with their project, they need to push "Next." When they get to the "Gallery," their project has been saved.
Lesson 3 Biography Research with World Almanac Kids Elementary and ChatterPix
Introduce students to World Almanac Kids Elementary and how to get there via ClassLink. Have them choose "Topics" and "List View." Under Biographies, allow students to choose a person to research. (Teacher Tip: Give them a time limit when choosing a subject.) Distribute a graphic organizer to everyone and allow time for them to fill out the graphic organizer.
Lesson 4 Biography Research with World Almanac Kids Elementary and ChatterPix
After filling out the graphic organizer, students should write a short paragraph using the information they have collected. The paragraph should be written in the first person, as they will be using this paragraph to do their ChatterPix projects. If time permits, have students find an image of the person they researched and have them save it to the camera roll on their iPad.
Lesson 5 Finish Biography Research with World Almanac Kids Elementary and ChatterPix and Present
After students have found an image of the person they are researching, students create a ChatterPix about their subject. If time permits, allow students to share their ChatterPix project under the document camera.
